Five Questions With FSU Commit Olrick “Juice” Johnson

For Olrick “Juice” Johnson, committing to Florida State means getting a chance to play for the school he grew up cheering for. The three-star linebacker spoke with In The Endzone about his relationship with the coaching staff, his potential role on defense, and what FSU fans can expect from his game.
1. What made Florida State the right place for you to continue your football career?
Johnson: “I would say what made Florida State the right place for me is definitely the environment. I’ve been a Florida State fan since I was a kid, so it’s really cool to have a chance to play for FSU in the future.”
2. How has your relationship with the coaching staff developed throughout your recruitment?
Johnson: “I think it’s honestly just the relationship with me and Coach White and Coach Sims and Coach Norvell. I think they are all quality people and can develop me as a football player, but also as a man.”
“I’ve definitely gotten closer with the coaches throughout my recruitment. They have been really consistent with communication, and I think I’ve developed a level of trust to where I can come to them about anything football-related and even high school.”
3. What excites you most about becoming a Seminole?
Johnson: “I just love the fan base and the environment more than anywhere else. I’m just excited to come in and be a part of the culture, man. I’ve been a fan of it growing up, so now it’s just surreal to be able to be a part of it.”
4. Have the coaches talked about how they envision you in their defensive system?
Johnson: “Yeah, they have talked to me about how they want me in their defensive system. They want me to come in and be a key piece and be able to play everything and learn everything as I’m developing as a freshman.”
5. How would you describe your play style to an FSU fan who has not watched your film?
Johnson: “My play style, I’d definitely say I’m a sideline-to-sideline thumper. I think I’m a pretty good athlete, and I’m really good at playing sideline to sideline, but then also, you know, punishing running backs in the run game, being able to play alignment with my leverage.”
