BREAKING: 2028 Outfielder Devin Raines Commits to Florida State

Florida State baseball has added another in-state prospect to its future recruiting class.
Devin Raines, a 2028 outfielder and first baseman from Cardinal Mooney High School, has committed to the Seminoles, giving FSU another left-handed bat to develop.
Raines, a Lakewood Ranch, Florida, native, is listed by Perfect Game at 6-foot-4 and 195 pounds. He bats left-handed and throws right-handed, with experience in both the outfield and at first base.
Speed Adds to Raines’ Profile
Raines brings speed along with his size. Prep Baseball Florida recorded a 6.63-second 60-yard dash at the 2026 Future Games, where it also reported a 94 mph exit velocity.
That speed could help him contribute on the bases and cover ground in the outfield. Paired with his left-handed bat, it adds another dimension to his development as a prospect. Speed is particularly valuable in the college game, especially in the outfield.
His experience in the outfield and at first base also gives Florida State options as he progresses through high school. His frame provides room to add strength.

Jarrett Continues Building Within Florida
Raines’ commitment continues an in-state trend in Link Jarrett’s 2028 recruiting efforts.
Perfect Game’s current list shows five Florida State commitments in the class, and all five are Florida prospects: Garrett Harper, Nathan Hazard, Alex Fernando Rodriguez, Brody Radwick and Sid Goecke. That gives the Seminoles a 100% in-state share among the five commitments listed, with Raines adding another Florida player to the group. That five-player list does not yet include Raines.
Raines adds a left-handed-hitting position player to a group that already includes four left-handed pitchers and a shortstop, showing how the Seminoles are finding players for different roles within their home state.
With additional high school seasons ahead, Raines has time to continue developing before making the transition to college baseball.
His pledge is a verbal commitment rather than a signed agreement, but it establishes Tallahassee as his intended college destination.
